Our Approach
Admissions at KBU are being designed as a holistic and values-driven process. We believe every applicant carries not only grades but also experiences, stories, and strengths that shape who they are.
This approach reflects Himalayan traditions of learning, where education is rooted in karuṇā (compassion), samaya (sacred bond of trust), and rang sem rang ki tawa (“your mind, yours to observe”).
The admissions process for the planned Master’s in Educational Leadership (शैक्षिक नेतृत्व स्नातकोत्तर / Dzin Dzugs Slob Gnyer) is currently under development and will be finalized after review by KBU’s governing bodies and relevant regulatory authorities.

Whole-Person Evaluation
Applications will be considered in their fullness — including academic work, personal experiences, and contributions to community life.
Diversity & Inclusion
KBU welcomes applicants from varied cultural and social backgrounds. In Nepali, we say “समान अवसर सबैलाई” (Samān Awasar Sabailai) — “equal opportunity for all.” Special attention will be given to those who bring openness to Buddhist values, mindfulness, and inclusive education.
Personal Reflection
Applicants will be encouraged to share what has shaped them: stories of resilience, formative influences, or the spark that drew them to education.

Selection will be guided by principles of fairness, inclusivity, and accountability, reflecting the values of the Gyana Sabha (Academic Council).
Looking Ahead
The Master’s in Educational Leadership is envisioned as a living model of how leadership education can grow. Its design will continue to evolve in conversation with educators and institutions in Sikkim, across India, and internationally.
